Flight_MH370

Dear all,
Welcome & pl. read on about Malaysian Airplane Flight MH370.
(Reuters) - The international team hunting Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in the remote southern Indian Ocean failed to turn up anything on Friday, and Australia's deputy prime minister said the suspected debris may have sunk.
Aircraft and ships have also renewed a search in the Andaman Sea between India and Thailand, going over areas that have already been exhaustively swept to find some clue to unlock one of the biggest mysteries in modern aviation.
The Boeing 777 went missing almost two weeks ago off the Malaysian coast with 239 people aboard. There has been no confirmed sign of wreckage but two objects seen floating deep south in the Indian Ocean were considered a credible lead and set off a huge hunt on Thursday.
Australian authorities said the first aircraft to sweep treacherous seas on Friday about 2,500 km (1,500 miles) southwest of Perth was on its way back to base without spotting the objects picked out by satellite images five days ago.
"Something that was floating on the sea that long ago may no longer be floating," Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss told reporters in Perth. "It may have slipped to the bottom."
But the search was continuing and Australian, New Zealand and U.S. aircraft would be joined by Chinese and Japanese planes over the weekend.
"It's about the most inaccessible spot that you can imagine on the face of the Earth, but if there is anything down there, we will find it," Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told reporters in Papua New Guinea, where he is on a visit.
"Now it could just be a container that's fallen off a ship. We just don't know, but we owe it to the families and the friends and the loved ones to do everything we can to try to resolve what is as yet an extraordinary riddle."
India said it was sending two aircraft, a Poseidon P-8I maritime surveillance aircraft and a C-130 Hercules transporter, to join the hunt in the southern Indian Ocean. It is also sending another P-8I and four warships to search in the Andaman Sea, where the plane was last seen on military radar on March 8.
In New Delhi, officials said the search in areas around the Andaman island chain was not at the request of Malaysian authorities coordinating the global search for the airliner.
"All the navies of the world have SAR regions," said Capt. D.K. Sharma, an Indian navy spokesman, referring to search and rescue regions. "So we're doing it at our own behest."
Investigators suspect Flight MH370, which took off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing shortly after midnight on March 8, was deliberately diverted thousands of miles from its scheduled path. They say they are focusing on hijacking or sabotage but have not ruled out technical problems.
The search for the plane also continues in other regions, including a wide arc sweeping northward from Laos to Kazakhstan.
In the Indian Ocean, three Australian and two Japanese P-3 Orions joined a high-tech U.S. Navy P-8 Poseidon and a civilian Bombardier Global Express jet to search the 23,000 square km (8,900 sq mile) zone, Australian and Malaysian authorities said.
A Norwegian merchant ship, the Hoegh St. Petersburg, was diverted to the area on Thursday and another vessel would arrive later on Friday.
An Australian navy ship was expected to arrive in the search area on Saturday and Britain's HMS Echo, a multi-purpose ocean survey vessel, was also heading to the region, Malaysia said.
China's icebreaker for Antarctic research, Xuelong, or Snow Dragon, will set off from Perth to search the area, Chinese state news agency Xinhua cited maritime authorities as saying. Up to five more Chinese ships, with three ship-borne helicopters, were steaming towards the search zone from across the Indian Ocean.
Australian authorities said they had not asked for the ships to search the area. About two-thirds of the missing plane's passengers were Chinese nationals.
Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said that searchers were facing a "long haul" but were conscious that the clock was ticking. The plane's "black box" voice and data recorder only transmits an electronic signal for about 30 days before its battery dies, after which it will be far more difficult to locate.
It took investigators two years to find the black box from a Air France jetliner that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on a stormy night in June 2009.
"If we do not find it within the 30 days, it brings in other issues of how to locate it - as the French airline had to take two years. That comes into a different realm of search and rescue," Hishammuddin said.
STUDYING SATELLITES
There have been many false leads and no confirmed wreckage found from Flight MH370 since it vanished off Malaysia's east coast less than an hour after taking off.
There has also been criticism of the search operation and investigation, as more than two dozen countries scramble to overcome logistical and diplomatic hurdles.
Investigators piecing together patchy data from military radar and satellites believe that, minutes after its identifying transponder was switched off as it crossed the Gulf of Thailand, the plane turned sharply west, re-crossing the Malay Peninsula and following an established route towards India.
What happened next is unclear, but faint electronic "pings" picked up by one commercial satellite suggest the aircraft flew on for at least six hours.
A source with direct knowledge of the situation said that information gleaned from the pings had been passed to investigators within a few days, but it took Malaysia more than a week to narrow the search area to two large arcs - one reaching south to near where the potential debris was spotted, and a second crossing to the north into China and central Asia.

BJP’s ‘Chai pe charcha with NaMo’ programme may run into fresh trouble with Election Commission over norms which hold that any kind of allurement to voters during the poll process is not permissible as per law and the model code.

BJP proposes to organise the third phase of ‘Chai pe charcha with NaMo’ across the country on March 20 when its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will take up queries on farmers’ issue.

The programme has already run into trouble with poll officials in Uttar Pradesh who have registered a case against some BJP leaders for alleged enticement of voters during a session in which they distributed free tea to the public in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Poll authorities said they considered the serving of tea as enticement of voters.

“Any kind of allurement or enticement of voters during the poll process is not permissible as per law,” UP’s Chief Electoral Officer, Umesh Sinha, told PTI.

Top poll officials said that a case was registered under provisions of IPC against certain local BJP leaders at Kotwali police station at Mohammadi in Lakhimpur Kheri district.

Sources said that BJP leaders had obtained permission from UP’s Chief Electoral Officer for holding the ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ programme on March 8 at a tea stall in the area. But Sinha said that permission was granted for the event to take place as per the provisions of the Model Code. But poll officials reported that free tea was served to participants at the discussion, which was construed as bribing the voters.

But the view in Nirvachan Sadan, EC’s headquarters here, is different with poll officials saying that serving a cup of tea worth Rs 2 cannot be termed enticement.

“The money (spent on serving tea) can be added to BJP’s poll expenditure,” said an official.

But UP CEO Sinha holds a different view. “There is no ban on holding of such events with prior permission…but anything which is in violation of the Model Code of Conduct will not be permitted at such events.

“Appropriate action would be taken in cases of any violation,” Sinha said, adding that any kind of free distribution by political parties will be regarded as an attempt to entice voters.

Asked about the EC action, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a party briefing that while they would examine the matter, the poll panel should consider allowing new campaigning styles which are in sync with the changing times.

Dear all,

The BJP appears to be sprinting towards one of its strongest finishes ever in Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state.

NDTV's opinion poll shows that the BJP will get half of the state's 80 seats. In the last election in 2009, it won just 10 parliamentary seats. The reset button has been pushed by the party's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi.

Mayawati's party, the BSP, will get 15, down five from last time. The setback for the state's other regional powerhouse Mulayam Singh Yadav is considerably heftier. His Samajwadi Party is likely to get 13 seats, that's 10 less than his tally in the last general election in 2009. Mr Yadav is a frontliner in the movement to form a Third Front - a post-election coalition of regional parties like his and the Left - that hope to block the BJP and the Congress from coming to power.

The Congress - whose senior-most leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi represent Rae Bareli and Amethi - will lose 15 seats (along with ally Ajit Singh) to get 12 seats.

The BJP is likely to decide this weekend whether Mr Modi, should run for parliament from a constituency here. Among those being weighed is Varanasi, currently served in the Lok Sabha by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. NDTV's opinion poll asked BJP voters in Gujarat, Mr Modi's home state, if he should run from UP. No, said 67 per cent. But in Uttar Pradesh, 62 per cent of BJP voters said they would like to see Mr Modi contest the election from here.

The BJP's strongest performance in UP was in 1998, when it won 57 of the 85 seats (Uttarkahand had not been carved out as a separate state), a landslide powered by the party's stated focus on building a Ram Mandir or temple at Ayodhya. In 1992, thousands of kar-sewaks (volunteers) had brought down the 16th-century Babri Masjid in the city, claiming that it was built on the area where Lord Ram had been born.

Court_rulings,RIL,EC,AAP,Missing_Plane&UID

Dear all,
Welcome.
Court rulings:1. MP/MLA matters: Supreme Court had given ruling that matters related to various MP/MLAs should be completed within a period of one year failing which reply is to be furnished by Lower Courts. It is to note that long pending cases of MP/MLAs are apparently seen.
2. Mercy petition: Bhullar's curative petition hearing had been adjourned uptil March 26. The Supreme Court had stated that in absence of Central govt. taking stance on it, Court would be taking decision. The Attorney General had stated that govt. had not taken any decision in this regard and demanded time for it.
Election Commission: Delhi State CEC had sent report on AAP's allegedly violation of Model Code of Conduct to Election Commission recommending for stern action. It is likely to de dealt strictly. Censure might be shown as against AAP's reply that the action in front of BJP Office was unplanned & instantaneous.

RIL/DGH: CAG had stated, in it's audit report, that approvals to Cauvery basin D-6 block's exploration were given without adequate testing. RIL had searched oil wells Dhirubhai 1 & 3 during October 2002. These were declared as suitable for commercial production during April 2003 & March 2004 respectively. During May 2004, RIL had claimed that it has gas reserves of 8300 crores cu.ft. DG(Hydrocarbons) had approved development plan worth 247 crore dollars. It was based upon estimated gas reserves of 5450 crore cu.ft. and 3810 cu.ft.
However, RIL had, prior to the start of production, demanded project cost to be enhanced to 880 crore dollars. Total gas estimate was also increased to 14164 crore cu.ft. & 12040 crore cu.ft. respectively. The amended plan was approved during Dec.2006. The production started during April 2009 but owing to lesser production, RIL was forced to have strategic collaboration with British Petroleum.
As per Production Sharing Contract (PSC), Contractors were to hand over appraisal progra, for evaluation of search size. It was not handed over for D-1 & D-3 oil rigs. Operator had sought for commercial production directly.
CAG had claimed that with appraisal program, investigation could have been done. He had ridiculed about DG(H) confirming upon these aspects.
CCI: Competition Commission of India is investigating internet search engine, Google, for allegedly violating competency law. Google had stated that it is cooperating with Indian agencies. It had claimed that after two years of analysis, US competency commission is of the opinion that its services are better in terms of competition.
The matter is running since past two years before CCI. A hefty fine could be put in case of any violation, which would be amounting to be 10% of three years average income.
However, Google claims that it had settled matter therein before EU & US Competency Commissions. But CCI do not have any such provision. Besides fine, Company could be asked to change it's infrastructure or behaviour. The owned units could be separated into various units.
It is to note that Google has entered into various deals like Matrimony.com like Facebook/Whatsapp deal etc. which needs approval from CCI.
AAP/Gujarat model: AAP's National Coordinator had declined Gujarat's development model. He had also targeted BSP chief, Mayawati stating that land was distributed in Gujarat like that in UP State.
Kejriwal had stated that he was shown black flags but when asked upon village development, villagers had expressed that govt. are vying for industrialists. AAP leader had stated that in Haryana State, DLF, Reliance etc. & in Gujarat it is Ambani & Adani whereas in UP, it is Jaypee Industries which are benefited with low cost of land purchase.
Manish Sisodia had stated that there are three problems in the country i.e. poor farmers, unemployment and corruption.
